The City of Bainbridge Island invites you to become involved in envisioning our town's waterfront.

The Vision

The Harbor, the Town and parklands are well connected- visually, with pathways through activities. Access to the water is improved. Waterfront Park is inviting. The waterfront in the Ferry District is improved. The trail and park system is expanded. Water access is supported by, a boatyard, boat rentals, a water taxi, public docks, boardwalks, and moorage. Waterfront trail connects from the Marina District to the Hall property and beyond, Strawberry Park is improved with a restored beach and public amenities.

What is being planned?

  • Waterfront Park enhancements & vegetation plan
  • Senior Center Expansion
  • New Restrooms in Waterfront Park
  • A civic space & expanded public waterfront east of the ferry terminal
  • New boardwalks and improved connections to the Hall Property
  • Waterfront trail improvements
  • Ferry terminal expansion
  • Changes to the WSF maintenance yard
  • An open water marina
  • Pritchard Park

Design Objectives

  • Retain small town character and invite gathering
  • Street is a gallery for "art" and a "stage" for community events.
  • Eclectic character and accommodating of change
  • Distinctive details reflecting social and environmental values
  • Retain on-street parking, improve transportation choices
  • Minimize disruption to businesses during construction

Who is developing the plans?

Waterfront Park & the Ferry Terminal - Winslow Tomorrow Project Director, Chris Wierzbicki with support from Public Works, Planning & Community Development Divisions, City Committees and Commissions, and consulting designers AECOM/EDAW, Studio of William Johnson, Van Meter Williams Pollack & Artist Lorna Jordan and Environmental Consultants

Harbor Marina, Parks and Trails - PCD with support from BI Park District, citizen committees & commissions and consultants.
